What is Microneedling ?
Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy. It's based on the 1950's cosmetic treatment called mesotherapy. It is a non-invasive procedure where several sterile micro needles that are pressed into the skin. These little pricks create tiny micro holes that trigger the skin's repair system to create new collagen and elastin fibers. Topical skincare applied right after microneedling is also absorbed better.
How It Works
Skincare ingredients can have trouble going past the skin's natural outer barrier; because it is very difficult to penetrate ingredients through the uppermost layer of skin.
Most ingredient will be blocked by the skin barrier, that's why some skincare formulas make products quite harsh at high concentrations, or add other ingredients to force extra penetration through the skin barrier.
Microneedling solves this problem as it creates micro channels so skincare ingredients can effectively absorb into the skin. During your treatment, a topical serum of your choice (Platelet-Rich Plasma, Exosomes or Hyaluronic Acid) is applied to the skin, providing additional skincare benefits.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
PRP Microneedling, also known as the Vampire Facial, is a regenerative treatment derived from the patient’s own blood. After a small blood sample is drawn, it is processed to isolate the plasma rich in platelets, which contain growth factors that promote tissue repair and collagen production. The PRP is applied topically or injected into the treated area, which accelerate healing, reduce inflammation, and enhances overall skin rejuvenation. It is particularly effective for treating acne scars, fine lines, dull skin, and uneven texture.
Exosomes
Exosomes are derived from stem cells. They serve as messengers, delivering proteins, lipids, RNA, and growth factors to skin cells to promote regeneration and repair. Paired with microneedling, Exosomes deeply penetrate the skin and provide powerful anti-aging benefits, including enhanced collagen production, reduced inflammation, quicker recovery, and improved skin tone. Since Exosomes are not dependent on the client’s own biology, it may be a more effective option for more mature clients or those who are not in peak health.
Hyaluronic Acid (HA)
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body that plays a key role in maintaining skin hydration. Paired with microneedling, it helps to attract and retain moisture, keeping the skin plump, smooth, and soothed. While HA does not actively promote cell regeneration or collagen production, it improves the appearance and feel of the skin by supporting hydration and elasticity. It’s suitable for most skin types, especially those seeking a boost in moisture.

Results, Longevity & Maintenance
One of the most exciting perks about Microneedling is the immediate results patients experience. Clients can see a glow to their skin as soon as the procedure is finished, and visible changes to their skin is visible over the next several weeks. Results continue to improve up to six months after the treatment as collagen is rebuilding.
On average, Microneedling is recommended every 4-6 weeks for a minimum of 3 sessions. After the initial set of treatments, it is important to meet with your injector to determine if more treatments are required. Continued maintenance of Microneedling results are best kept if the treatment is done every 3-6 months after the initial sessions.
Prep & Appointment Expectations
Microneedling begins with cleansing the face to ensure there are no traces of makeup or dirt. Second, numbing cream is applied (Pro Tip: Nurses can use prescription grade numbing cream from a pharmacy so you really won’t feel a thing). After the numbing cream has worked its magic, it is removed and the face is cleansed again. A topical serum (PRP, Exosomes or Hyaluronic Acid) is applied and then we begin the Microneedling! As I microneedle, I continue to apply the serum which is penetrated deep into your skin through the little micro-channels created. I will go over the same area 2-3 times and then we’re all done!
The entire treatment process is approximately 45 minutes.

Aftercare
Aftercare
4-6 hours: Do not wash the treated area and sleep on a freshly laundered pillowcase.
24 hours: No makeup, exercise, alcohol, smoking or blood thinners. (ex. Advil)
48 hours: Keep hydrated and drink lots of water.
7-10 days: Sleep on your back as much as possible. Avoid sun exposure, use our Post Procedure Treatment kit and apply SPF twice daily.
14 days: Swelling, bruising and mild soreness is normal! No compression, facial massages or other facial treatments.
Pain, Healing & Downtime
Microneedling is a relatively comfortable treatment – no worse than a mild scratch. Some areas such as your cheeks, where there is more tissue underneath, may not feel any sensation at all! More delicate areas such as your upper lip or forehead may be a bit more sensitive but still very very tolerable. The prescription grade numbing cream is a great help!
Total healing time from this procedure completely depends on the pen position and the number of overlapping passes your treatment provider has made on your skin! On average clients experience redness for two to four days, while others heal completely within 24 hours.
If you are on the hunt for a solution to treating fine facial lines, wrinkles and scars or simply looking to improve your skins texture and tone, then this treatment is great to add to your treatment regime. It is best to do a series of these treatments for maximum results!

The main differences between hyaluronic acid (HA), platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and exosomes when combined with microneedling:
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a hydrating substance that helps retain moisture in the skin. It improves plumpness and soothes irritation but doesn't actively stimulate regeneration. It's ideal for hydration and barrier support.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is derived from the patient’s own blood and contains growth factors that promote healing, collagen production, and skin regeneration. Its effectiveness depends on the individual's overall health and blood quality.
Exosomes are cell-derived vesicles from stem cells that deliver powerful regenerative signals to skin cells. They stimulate collagen, reduce inflammation, and promote faster healing. May be more effective than PRP, especially for mature or less healthy individuals.
-
Microneedling works by creating controlled micro-injuries in the skin using a device with fine needles. These tiny punctures trigger the body’s natural healing response, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, two key proteins responsible for skin firmness, smoothness, and elasticity. The microchannels created during the procedure allow for deeper absorption of topical serums, like hyaluronic acid, PRP, or exosomes -making them significantly more effective!
-
Microneedling offers a range of benefits, including improved skin texture, reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, minimized scarring, and enhanced overall skin rejuvenation. Microneedling paired with a topical serum, like PRP, Exosomes or HA results in a more youthful and radiant complexion!
-
The level of discomfort varies among individuals. A topical anesthetic is typically applied to the treatment area to minimize any potential pain or discomfort during the procedure. Many patients find the discomfort to be tolerable, and the benefits outweigh the temporary discomfort.
-
The duration of a PRP Microneedling session depends on the size of the treated area and the specific technique used. Generally, sessions can last anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes.
-
The number of sessions required varies based on individual skin concerns and goals. While some people see improvements after a single session, a series of treatments (usually 3-6 sessions) spaced several weeks apart may be recommended for optimal results.
-
Mild redness and swelling are common immediately after the procedure, but they typically subside within a day or two. Patients can resume normal activities, but it's advisable to avoid sun exposure and strenuous exercise for a short period following the treatment.
-
Results are typically noticeable within a few weeks, with continued improvements over the following months as collagen production continues. Many patients experience a radiant and rejuvenated complexion after completing their recommended series of treatments.
-
Microneedling is generally safe for all skin types. However, a thorough consultation with a qualified skincare professional is recommended to determine individual suitability and customize the treatment plan.
